Meeting Minutes for Tuesday, October 26, 2004

bulletMeeting is called to order.
bulletThe September meeting minutes are approved.
bulletTreasurer’s report by Chuck Mabley shows an end of the month of September balance of $5,365.89.  The renewal postcard response was good and included a couple of donations.  Motion made by Dennis Tipsword to accept the report.  Seconded by Rich Platz and accepted.
bulletTrail Commission Meeting: (thanks to Chuck Mabley)
bulletThe revised rules and procedures were given out.  A final and formal review will be done soon.  Dennis Tipsword suggests that we include the information on our website.
bulletThere was lengthy discussion about the sidewalk for Stoney Park Apartment and the maintenance of the connection.  A decision hasn’t been made but it seems they are leaning towards a $250 fee for the tie-in to cover maintenance.
bulletA contract for a cement plant along the trail has been extended for the use of the property at the cost of $900.  The previous owners of the property, the railroad, passed the lease onto the current owners.
bulletAnthony Casasanta reported that the current maintenance of the trail has been once a week.  It includes picking up trash and blowing stones off the trail.
bulletThe update on Phase II and Phase III is the pre-engineer phase is on hold because of state discrepancy with bidding process.
bulletArmada Grain will not sign current proposal.  A new one will be negotiated.
bulletThere is whispering in Romeo of possible membership into the trail commission.
bulletNovember 23 is the next scheduled meeting.
bulletCovered bridge report (Neil Kocsis):
bulletPlan 2 was presented to the trail commission.
bulletWork is being done with architect to use as many low-maintenance options as possible when it comes to fencing, shingling, etc.
bulletThe trail commission would like to see more detailed plans.
bulletNeil will keep John Crumm and Gary Kirsch updated.
bulletWe are in search of corporate sponsors for the bridge.
bulletDave Rumohr shared a possible Michigander course, using portions of the M.O.T., to the trail commission.  They will not guarantee trail access from Van Dyke and 29 Mile in time for the ride.  There might be a need for volunteers for the ride during July 21st and 22nd when riders come into this area.
bulletNewsletter will include nominations.  This needs to go out right away.
bulletThere was discussion of importance of the Friend’s group now that we feel “mission is accomplished.”  We will need to promote ourselves in future projects.  We will “plug along” another year and then decide if we need to make a change to the charter.
bulletVerification was made that there was an amendment in the bylaws last year to allow officers to run again.  Those board members up for reelection are Chuck Mabley, Rich Platz, Dave Rumohr, and Christine Hamilton.
bulletNo trail clean-ups are scheduled this winter.
bulletThere will be no official December meeting.  Social plans will be made.
bulletRich Platz makes a motion to adjourn.  John Tarantino seconds the motion.  Meeting adjourned.
