Macomb Orchard Trail Friends Group
Meeting Minutes for Tuesday, June 22, 2004
 | Meeting is called to order. |
 | Treasurer's report by Chuck Mabley shows an end of the month of May
balance of $5,459.65. This includes the expense of the latest newsletter
postage. A motion is made to approve by John Tarantino and seconded by Dave
Rumohr to accept the report. |
 | Chuck Mabley makes a motion to accept May's meeting minutes. This is
seconded by Dave Rumohr. |
 | Membership cards - tabled for next year |
 | Covered bridge
 | Neil Kocsis will check in with Steve Lodge to see if they can show off
the plans at the Trail Opening Ceremony. |
 | He also expresses how wouldn't it be a great idea to find a locomotive
that could possibly be parked in Richmond? Any ideas? |
|
 | Trail Day in Rochester -
 | John Tarantino made some good contacts with the Paint Creek Trailways
and gathered information that could be useful to our group. Kristen Meijers,
from the Paint Creek association, will get John the phone numbers of
businesses that are currently paying for use of the right of way on the
Paint Creek (they call it a licensing fee). We'll see how this arrangement
is set up and if this money could be used for trail up-keep. |
 | Donna Foland of the Oakland Land Conservancy expressed her concern that
Romeo is not on the board and would like to set up a nature walk in that
area. |
|
 | June Trail Commission Meeting Important Points
 | They are currently working on the semantics of the trail-road crossings. |
 | Discussion about possible developments along the trail and easement
problems. |
 | Next meeting is June 29. |
|
 | Dave Rumohr shared a phone call he received from Alan VanKirkoff who
informed him of the geological aspect of the trail. The trail is located on a
ridge, which means it is an ancient shoreline. So many different ways to get
excited about the trail! |
 | Dave also says that now would be a good time to work on updating the trail
inventory. The Omo Road crossing needs some extra attention. There seems to
some sort of wash-out. Could someone have removed a culvert? |
 | The membership list is at 106 members, with 56 of them being paid,
according to Dave Rumohr. |
 | F.Y.I. - The Michigan R.T.C. is separating from the National R.T.C. They
will possibly become affiliated with the Greenways. |
 | Chuck Mabley makes a motion to adjourn. Dave Rumohr seconds the motion.
Motion passes. |
Next official meeting is Tuesday, July 27, 2004 at Camp
Rotary.
