Meeting Minutes for Tuesday, April 27, 2004

bulletMeeting is called to order. Welcome newcomer.
bulletTreasurer's report by Chuck Mabley shows an end of the month of March balance of $5,576.75. A motion is made to approve by John Tarantino and seconded by Rich Platz.
bulletCorrespondence - We received an invitation from the Greenways Initiative. An email was received from Nancy Krupiarz about an article with Trail Day activity publicity opportunities. June is now officially Rail-Trail Month in Michigan.
bulletLast month's meeting minutes were approved by Dennis Tipsword and seconded by Marty Osborne.
bulletTrail Commission Status -
bulletLand J Construction working north to south. Construction should be finished June 30. Culverts on-going project.
bulletNorth end start for logistical reasons; working with wetlands and southern end. These will be easier to do later.
bulletSmooth asphalt for roller blades - less aggregate
bulletGood asphalt contractor per Duncan
bullet26-Mile and Mound area will use a widened shoulder on west side of Mound through stoplight to south side of 26-Mile
bulletProposing dedication after July 4 (not June 12)
bulletVillage of Armada looking forward to trail per Chairman of the Board
bulletTransfer of ownership of sections two and three from TPL to Macomb County scheduled for August
bulletArmada Grain wants land for their existing building in village - a legal precedent problem
bulletCarlisle and Wortman Associates (authors of the Master Plan) gave a preliminary presentation on an easement policy and procedure. This is a work in progress that will be based on the Master Plan
bulletNext meeting is June 1
bulletMembership cards - tabled
bulletCovered bridge - Thanks to Neil Kocsis we have received great publicity from the Romeo Observer. Steve Lodge did call and said they are committed to working on the bridge. On Monday, May 3 at noon they will be checking out the sight. Neil will meet them there.
bulletNeil Kocsis suggests that we come up with ideas for special projects, possibly two a year, to improve the trail.
bulletHistorian report - Rich is still looking for more pictures.
bulletNewsletter - Get articles to Ted. Dennis Tipsword will write an article to tell what is going on with the trail.
bulletTrail Clean-up - It is suggested we do a clean-up day in Richmond. Dennis Tipsword will call Gary Kircsh to see if there is anything he can recommend.
bulletTrailways meetings - The meetings held were very successful.
bulletRich Platz makes a motion to adjourn. John Tarantino seconds the motion. Motion passes.

Next official meeting is Tuesday, May 25, 2004 at Camp Rotary.
