 | Treasurer's report by Chuck Mabley shows an end of the month of February
balance of $5,045.89. A motion is made by Rich Platz and seconded by John
Tarantino to approve. Chuck Mabley also reports that we have been given
permanent 501C3 status. Dennis Tipsword recommends we send a copy of this to
the Trail Commission. |
 | John Tarantino announces that the Clinton River Riders are once again
donating to the group. We are receiving a $500 donation from them. Christine
will send a Thank You Letter. |
 | Correspondence - Kodak American Greenways Program has sent us literature
on the application process. We will keep this for information. As for the
Richmond letter inviting us to be part of the Good Old Days festival, we will
see how much of Phase II and III becomes visible before considering doing
attending any local festivals. The item will be tabled for future discussion. |
 | Trail Commission Status -
 | At the meeting they checked the by-laws and found the officers could be
re-elected |
 | The basic financial report of fund sources was distributed. |
 | Budgeted is $8+ million, which should be ample for Phase II and III. The
feeling is that the funds will be escrowed to help cover future maintenance
costs of communities. |
 | The plan is to pay off Phase II and III from Trusts for Public Land in
April. |
 | Policies need to be decided and written for land disputes, transfers of
property, and even how to deal with people with buffers on the trail |
 | Plans are being made for a trail day in which the friends group can be
involved. |
 | The construction bids will be due very soon. |
 | Anthony Casasanta has been in touch with community groups (i.e. Boy
Scouts) that are willing to work through us to arrange service projects. |
|
 | Membership cards - tabled |
 | Covered bridge - Neil Kocsis called Steve Lodge and is still waiting to
hear back from him. Neil then went to the Macomb Daily and asked Tom Watts, a
reporter, to publish the information about what we are looking to do with the
trail. He will also write that we are in search of an architect that would
like to help. |
 | Newsletter - Articles are needed. April 15 will be the deadline. |
 | Trailways meetings - Macomb Orchard Trail is becoming the "crown jewel" of
Macomb County. |
 | Historian report - Still gathering information. |
 | A new meeting policy is that if an item is listed on the agenda for 3
months with no action it will be dropped. The item can then be re-introduced. |
 | Chuck Mabley makes a motion to adjourn, which is seconded by Rich Platz.
Motion passes. |
