 | Chuck Mabley makes a motion to accept January, 2004 meeting minutes. This
is seconded by John Tarantino and approved. |
 | Treasurer’s report by Chuck Mabley shows an end of the month of January
balance of $4,920.10. A motion is made by John Tarantino and seconded by Marty
Osborne to approve. Chuck Mabley also has an update on the subject of renewal
of 5013C status of the group. He is not sure if it permanent or is a 5 year
license. He hasn’t received word back yet. |
 | Yahoo moderator – Neil Kocsis will find out the set-up format from Todd
Scott on this and will report back. |
 | Correspondence - The bicycle club Slowspokes is asking us to participate
in their potluck dinner on Sunday, March 21 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. They are
inviting non-profit bicycle related organizations. Tickets are $8 per person.
John Tarantino will be attending. |
 | Trail Commission Status –
 | They talked about sources for funding for $8.8 million. |
 | Phase I will happen this year. |
 | Phase II and III will happen next year. |
 | The election of officers was tabled because they are not sure about
having officers serve several terms in a row. |
 | Armada update – A perimeter well was capped for safety issues. This
might be a good place for a drinking fountain. |
 | George Adams Jr. wants to make a trade for more land to go to the trail
if he can have a small section where he can put an ice cream shop and
parking lot located at Van Dyke and Campground. |
 | Lombardi Construction had easement project questions pertaining to areas
at 26 Mile and Mound and 29 Mile and Van Dyke intersections. |
 | Paving should be done around August or September. |
 | Armada Drain has a building that is 20 feet inside right-of-way of
trail. Legal issues of the land being released for some sort of compensation
or in exchange for land, (Depot Road) on north side of trail, is being
researched. |

 | Membership cards – tabled |
 | Covered bridge – Neil Kocsis found a contact, Renee Williams, who talked
to an architectural firm that is interested in designing our bridge. The
Steven Lodge Firm (French Associates) will possibly take a look depending on
the progress of Phase I this year. |
 | Newsletter – The newsletter will possibly be sent out in March. |
 | Active Michigan Initiation contact is needed. This will be tabled until
next month. |
 | Trailways meetings – This will be reserved for next month. We will have
representatives at it. |
 | Set calendar dates for 2004
 | Meetings will be kept on the fourth Tuesday. There will be no December
meeting. |

 | Workers – We will schedule as needed. We are not sure what our role will
be during Phase I. We will ask to find out what is needed from commission
meeting. |
 | Special activities –
 | Peach Festival attendance is possible |
 | We will not attend Armada Fair this year |
 | Good Old Days will be more appropriate to do when Phase III is in
effect. |
 | Ribbon cutting on trail will be a possibility in Romeo this year. |

 | Post office permits will be dropped. Chuck Mabley says we would save $46,
however, for the time and inconvenience it is not worth the permit. He makes a
motion to drop permit which is seconded by Marty Osborne and passed by the
board. |
 | Scott Anderson, of the China Township Planning Commission, wanted to
update us on the possible connections of the Bridge to Bay Trail in St. Clair
County to our trail. We are looking forward to future collaboration on the
project. |
 | Chuck Mabley makes a motion to adjourn which is seconded by John
Tarantino. Motion passes. |
Next official meeting is Tuesday, March 23, 2004 at Camp
Rotary.
