Meeting Minutes for Tuesday, January 27, 2004

bulletMeeting is called to order.
bulletDennis Tipsword makes a motion to approve November meeting minutes. Motion seconded by John Tarantino.
bulletTreasurer's report by Chuck Mabley shows an end of the month of November balance of $5,132.58 and the end of the month of December balance of $4,912.45. A motion is made by Dennis Tipsword to reimburse Chuck Mabley $95.78 for printing and postage costs. The motion is seconded by John Tarantino and approved.
bulletCorrespondence - A letter of appreciation of our work on the trail was sent by Lynn King of Chesterfield Township.
bulletTrail Commission Status - Meeting was canceled.
bulletElection Count - Lee Rumohr and Ken Fowler volunteered to count the ballots.
bulletThe issue of business membership cards will be postponed until next month. Dave Rumohr will send out renewal postcards.
bulletSheriff Hackel has now offered his own clean-up "crews" to help us clean-up the trail. We would just need to have a portable facility available. Dennis Tipsword will investigate some possibilities.
bulletElection results - Dennis Tipsword, John Tarantino, and Marty Osborne were officially elected to the board of directors of the Friends group.
bulletHistorian report - Rich Platz says he is making progress in the collection of information.
bulletNewsletter - Thanks goes to Ted Gondert for another successful newsletter. Thanks also go to Chuck Mabley for taking care of the mailing.
bulletBoard members, including newly elected, will hold a short meeting at the end of the general meeting to decide on official positions.
bulletChuck Mabley presented his 2004 budget proposal. There was discussion about raising trail maintenance amount. It is decided the proposed numbers were sufficient at this time. Rich Platz makes a motion to pass budget, which is seconded by John Tarantino. The motion passes.
bulletAfter open discussion and audit of 2003 treasury records a motion is made by Dennis Tipsword to accept the audit. The motion is seconded by John Tarantino and passed.
bulletThere is a need to apply for an extension for the 5013C tax status since the first five years is a temporary license. Lee Sorensen makes a motion that we reapply to continue to work as a non-profit organization. The motion is seconded by Dennis Tipsword and passes.
bulletChuck Mabley distributed the sales tax license for the current year.
bulletDennis Tipsword makes a motion that we once again make a bronze donation of $100 to the Richmond Area Chamber of Commerce's Winter and Ice Festival. The motion is seconded by Rich Platz and approved.
bulletLee Sorensen will ask Neil Kocsis if he would be willing to become the Yahoo Groups moderator since he will no longer be able to do this.
bulletLee also asks if there is anyone interested in keeping track of the Active Michigan Initiative emails that the Friends group receives.
bulletIt is decided after discussion that we will pass on the "Land Use on Earth Day" event in Lansing.
bulletThe Trailways Initiative is having a meeting on Wednesday, February 25 from 7-9 p.m. to inform the public about what is going on with the Macomb Trail system. Do we want to set up a booth?
bulletChuck Mabley makes a motion to adjourn which is seconded by John Tarantino.
bulletMeeting adjourned.
