Meeting Minutes for Tuesday, August 26, 2003

bulletMeeting is called to order. Welcome newcomers.
bulletJuly’s meeting minutes are accepted as corrected. Dennis Tipsword makes a motion with a second from John Tarantino to accept as corrected. Corrections made to July’s meeting minutes:
bulletA motion to approve reimbursement to Lee Sorensen for $217.60 for newsletter printing costs and postage is made by John Tarantino and seconded by Dave Rumohr was passed.
bulletThere will be a Clean-up Day on September 20 at West Road. We will head in either direction, towards 26 Mile or Campground Roads.
bulletLee is working on another award from DTE for the amount of $100,000.
bulletTreasurer’s report by Chuck Mabley shows a July end of month balance of $4,958.43. A request to reimburse Rich Platz for a $20 event insurance premium is made by Dennis Tipsword and seconded by John Tarantino.
bulletCorrespondence – We received a response to the Kodak American Greenways Awards Program grant application. Because of overwhelming response they cannot help us out.
bulletWork needs to be done to set up volunteers for the Peach Festival and Good Old Days events.
bulletClean up is scheduled for September 20 at 9 a.m. starting at West Road.
bulletTrail Commission is planning a "buzz" event called "Planting the Seed" on September 24. The event will be at the Glacier Club. People will be taken out on the trail and made available for photo opportunities. The new video will have its premier.
bulletThe engineers submitted their report to county road commission. The road commission has suggested some stoplights. Negotiations are going to avoid this issue.
bulletAs they go into fundraiser plans they will submit collected money to county, If necessary they will go through our organization. A contract will be drawn up for this arrangement. Chuck Mabley advises we keep our FMOT funds separate for our own expenses.
bulletApplefest is on October 10,11, and 12. Rich Platz makes motion that we apply and make final decision in September about attending. John Tarantino seconds the motion and it passes.
bulletDTE Award information – Lee showed us our application showing collaboration.
bulletClinton River Cleanup will publicize our clean up since they are on the same day.
bulletHistory – It is decided that the scrapbook will not be taken to the Peach Festival to keep it safe. Lee will ask if it is wanted at the Trail Commission event in September.
bulletOur thoughts and prayers go to Rich Platz and his wife to get through this difficult time.
bulletDennis Tipsword makes and motion and it is seconded by Chuck Mabley to adjourn meeting.
