Macomb Orchard Trail Friends Group
Meeting Minutes for Tuesday, July 23, 2002
 | Meeting is called to order |
 | July’s meeting minutes approved. |
 | The treasurer’s report shows an end of June balance of $4,769.79. Motion
to approve expense for $124.74 towards renewal of liability insurance is
passed. |
 | A generous donation of $400 (including membership fee) came from Mary Klamer. |
 | Trail Commission Status
 | The last meeting included the making of a timetable so that things like
grant applications can be coordinated into the master plan. The timetable
will be presented at the August meeting. |
 | The county will retain ownership of the trail until it is totally paid
for. |
 | Development of the first section (about 7 miles) will begin next spring. |
 | There was talk about the cost of developing the trail possibly
costing upwards $8 million. Chuck Mabley reminded the group about how the
volunteer friends group can help hold the cost of development down. |
 | A contest might be put out to the schools to help name the trail. |
 | Chuck Mabley also advised Bruce Township officials, who are worried
about the financial obligation, of the opt-out option still in the
agreement. |
 | He also wants to make sure that the logo of the Trail Commission isn’t
the one that goes on signs marking the trail. It could get confusing with
so many different logos. |
 | The next trail commission meeting is at the Richmond City offices on
Tuesday, August 27 at 10 a.m. |
|
 | Answering Machine and Email – none |
 | The insurance company okayed the sale of pre-packaged merchandise. |
 | More information will be had in future meetings about light pins. |
 | We need volunteers to man a booth at Richmond’s Bill’s Run Richmond
Run on August 3. |
 | We are all set to have a booth at Richmond Good Old Days. We need
volunteers to man this booth. |
 | The same goes for the Romeo Peach Festival and the Armada Applefest in
October. |
 | Corrections need to be made to the labels, or the printing of them, for
the next newsletter. |
 | A big thanks goes to Susan Martin who donated labels for the trail mix. |
 | There is talk about routing the trail crossing at M-59 to the 32 Mile
intersection. |
 | We need everyone to go out and vote for Proposal 2 in the August 6th
primary. |
 | Meeting adjourned. |
Next official meeting is Tuesday, August 27, 2002 at Camp
Rotary.
